burn-notice-poster I am so ready for the new season of Burn Notice to start. In case you haven’t seen it, the main character, Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), is a former spy who has been “burned” by his handlers. When a spy is burned, he’s persona non grata; his identity is erased, he has no work history, no money and no contact with his former associates. Westen wants to find out who burned him, to get his good name back and return to his former life of danger and international intrigue. In the meantime he keeps his skills sharp working as a private consultant for basically good people in over their heads.

The best part of the show is watching Westen apply the spy tricks of the trade. I would say Westen is about 80% con man, 10% thief and 10% ninja warrior. His girlfriend Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar) is a weapons expert. Actually, she’s a little psychotic when it comes to blowing things up or shooting someone. He also works with a former agent and FBI snitch, Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell). The three of them are always infiltrating dangerous circles, breaking into safes or bugging offices. I would love to get my hands on some of their spy gadgets. My DSE901 comes close. It’s an e cigarette that allows me to “smoke” undercover, because it looks more like a pen then a cigarette. There is an atomizer that converts liquid into a vapor which I inhale just like “smoke”. Mine is Black with a Blue LED on the end. When I take a puff, it lights up, just like an ember would. Now, if it only had a camera it would be very Inspector Gadget.

Mike needs to introduce his chain smoking mom played by Sharon Gless to an e cigarette. Wouldn’t the show be much cooler if she were puffing on an e cigarette instead of a nasty ol’ tobacco cancer stick?

Tonight is the last night of Biggest Loser until the finale in 3 weeks. The players are going to be sent home to face their demons and hopefully replace all those old habits with the new ones they’ve worked so hard to form. Mike is by far my favorite contestant this year. He’s shown such grace and generosity for an eighteen year old boy. When he unveiled his new look to his younger brother Max, I was reduced to tears. Max is still significantly overweight, while the rest of his family has won the battle of the bulge. At least for now. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Biggest Loser will invite Max to join the show next season. Tara had been an absolute champ throughout the show. She’s won challenge and after challenge and is the Biggest Loser so far.

I think Helen is going to have the hardest time at home. Not only does she have to watch what she eats, but she has to stay off cigarettes too. It’s hard to imagine losing weight at the same time you quit smoking. Of course it’s really hard to imagine running on a treadmill for hours a day and still puffing away. I smoked about 2 packs a day 12 years ago and my lungs burned morning, noon and night. I felt so lousy I had to quit. I have to admit, I miss the social aspect of smoking. That’s why I’ve really enjoyed my DSE901 e cigarette. I enjoy trying new smoke juice flavors and vaping with my friends. Maybe Helen will be lucky enough to learn about e cigarettes.
